Richard Reuter

As Vice President, Hardware Engineering, Mr. Reuter leads Cognex’s embedded hardware development, overseeing mechanical, electrical, optical, and test engineering, along with regulatory and compliance responsibilities. Mr. Reuter joined Cognex in November 2003 through the acquisition of Gavitec AG, a German startup focused on ID and Direct Part Marking (DPM) technologies. With over 30 years of professional experience in hardware engineering, Mr. Reuter brings a wealth of expertise and a strong global network of partners. During his tenure at Cognex, he led the development of the company’s successful DataMan series, which has generated hundreds of million dollars in revenue. His leadership was instrumental in the launch of key products such as the DataMan 370, DataMan 470, and most recently, the DataMan 290 and DataMan 390. He now holds responsibility for Cognex’s entire embedded hardware portfolio including ID, In-Sight, and 3D Vision products. Mr. Reuter studied electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University in Germany before beginning his professional career.
